Frequently Asked Questions

  1. QUESTION:
Has anybody had the laser eye surgery done at LASIK Vision Institute in Rancho Cordova?
I went for a consultation a few weeks ago and the office seemed very clean and everyone was very nice and very thorough with the explanations and so i have an appt for Thursday and im very nervous, has anyone gone here before? i read somethings about scams and bad service but those were mostly in Florida and some other states but i couldn't find anyone who had it done i this specific location. or any info or experiences about this specific clinic? Please! i am scared now...

    • ANSWER:
If you are scared, cancel the appointment until you can get more information. Although the Rancho Cordova Lasik Vision Institute does have a website, I could find no independent patient reviews. This is both good and bad. People who have had unpleasant experiences or bad surgical outcomes are more likely to post complaints than those that don't, but not finding any reviews does concern me. If you know the name of your Lasik Surgeon, you can try googling "his/her name MD and Rancho Cordova" and see the individual surgeon has any patient reviews.

Were your eyes examined by your Lasik surgeon and were you assured you that you are a good candidate for this procedure?
Has the Institute discussed all the risks and side effects that could result from this procedure?
Has the procedure and post surgical care been fully explained to you?

If any of the above were not covered during your consultation, I would be leary of going through with the surgery.

You cannot have this surgery until your vision has stabilized and it is safest if has been stabilized for two years. Vision usually stabilizes in your early to mid twenties. Having the surgery before total vision stabilization will result in your having undergo the surgery again at a later time.

Most people having Lasik surgery have satisfactory to excellent results, but the less than 5% that don't can suffer irreversible vision problems including severe vision loss. I hope you have thoroughly researched the Vision Corrective Laser Procedure that the clinic will preform on your eyes and checked out the Lasik surgeon.

  2. QUESTION:
Has anybody had the laser eye surgery done at LASIK Vision Institute in Houston, TX?
If so, how was your experience.

I went to an appointment with them yesterday and they seemed to be great, but the thing that amused me was the price because it was so cheap. I know that the prices have dropped but I've been shopping around and they are between 00 and 00 for both eyes, and they only charged me ,700 with a lifetime insurance for BOTH eyes, which is GREAT and I'm really excited about it, but know I'm wondering if they are good enough. I have a friend who lives in Dallas and she had in done 2 months ago, she paid ,500. So, does anybody know if they are reliable and if LASIK Vision Institute is a safe place for that kind of surgery??

    • ANSWER:
I live in Alabama. I paid 00 for both eyes. It all really just depends on your eye sight before. If they are a trusted and very well known place, then have it done!! I dont regret it at all. Be aware though, your eyes will be extremely dry for a while.

  3. QUESTION:
    Lasik Vision Institute Atlanta, GA?
Has anyone had laser vision correction surgery at the Lasik Vision Institute in Atlanta, GA?? I recently went for a free consultation and the staff was very knowledgeable the office had several people waiting. I also went to the Wooflson Institute last week and was not impressed by the staff or pricing. Any suggestions or past experiences would be great! Thanks!

    • ANSWER:
You'll want to ask the doctor (or their staff) how long the doctor has been in that line of work. More experience is a good thing when messing with the eyes. Discount places aren't always the best. I got mine at k and my friend got hers at .6k. She was blind for 2 days, and I woke up an hour after my procedure totally comfortable and with no issues with halo or anything.

A lot of doctors can also provide you with their patient satisfaction rating, so you'll want to ask for that. You'll know if they don't track it that they're bogus.

  4. QUESTION:
I'm looking for an eye institute where Dr's donate there time for laser surgery in Michigan?
My dear friend is no longer able to work because of major health issues. She has been a solid member of the American work force for over 35 years. Her medical problems have become so advanced that she has been forced to (what she hopes to be)a time out.Let me come right to the issue, she had cataracts on both her eyes. She had health insurance through her employer that covered this surgery. At that time only one eye was advanced enough to be covered. Now the other eye has become compleatly shrouded by the cataract and with no health insurance shes having to deal with new complications as a direct result of the impaired vision, head aches, nausea on the physical level, with this an on going 24/7 ordeal I see it taking a mental toll also. She needs your help in finding an eye institute at which Dr's donate their time for people in need who just can't afford this surgery. I want my friend to see again. So I humbly ask for your help. Thank you.

    • ANSWER:
Try the Lions Club in your area or The Department of the Blind. The Knight's Templar also will help sometimes. Also, the Workforce Development Force will sometimes help so the person can become employable again. Many of the universities will help also.

      I hope this helps.
