Lasik Eye Surgery Reviews

As it is known to all that LASIK eye surgery is an effective way to cure some eye problems completely, which is painless and has a high rate of success. But this does not mean it is no need to learn or understand this surgery. Actually it is not as simple as the description from advertisements or magazines, we need to take some time to learn about it and make ourselves fully prepared for the surgery instead. I will take my experience of taking LASIK surgery pre-operation tests as an example, in the hope that it can give people some help before taking this surgery.

Perhaps most people do not know some people are not able to make LASIK eye surgery. Definitely yes! Not everyone can do this surgery. That is not because these people fear the surgery, but because their people's eyeball shape can not make the surgery happen. The following is my experience before taking LASIK surgery.

After coming up the idea of taking LASIK eye surgery to cure my nearsightedness completely, I visited my ophthalmologist. That is because I learned before taking eye surgery, patients should visit their eye doctors at least once to test their eyes and find if anything is irregular. In a word, the aim of this test is to check if your eye condition is suitable for LASIK eye surgery.

First, they put few eye drops into my eyes, actually, these eye drops act as anesthetics to numb my eyes for the test. Thirty minutes later, they took me to another room. There are some gadgets in the room, just like the one to test our eyesight. However, this does not mean they will make the LASIK eye surgery now, and they just want to measure your eye size and the shape of the eyes to see if they are fit for LASIK surgery. And I was surprised with a little excitement that I can see my eye shape from a computer. Then they place me on a machine, which looks like a mini satellite dish with flickering light. I am sorry I don't remember what they tested on this machine. And all the pre-operation tests are finished, the only thing I need to do is to wait a few minutes for the testing results. Finally the result is I can do this LASIK eye surgery. I was excited of the result as I can get rid of eye glasses in the near future.

Above all, you can get a basic idea of the pre-operation test before LASIK eye surgery. So please keep the point in mind that before making this eye surgery, visit your ophthalmologist first to do some tests, then decide if you can take this surgery.

    • ANSWER:
My wife and I saved up our hard earned bucks and both got lasik, lasak, whichever one it was, they don't do the knife anymore, just the alcohol rub, 3 years ago, she did fine, mine was a different story, as I sit here now with 2.75% reading glasses on just to see the typewriter, I wish I never had it done. We went together, had it done at the same time, real easy operation, not even 5 minutes, I was in the waiting room reading the newspaper without my glasses 2 minutes after surgery, waiting for my wife, we had to get a motel because they give you one of those 8 hour sleeping pills and some goggles and send you to bed, so we did, got up the next day, went back to the doctors for the post op visit, everything good, then the drops started, no problem, about 4 weeks later, welcome to Hell!!! My eyes felt like I had sand spurs under my lids, I couldn't open them, My only reaction was to rub them and as I did i ground in the sand spurs, THis has happened every day for the past 3 years, I can't open my eyes in the morning without groping for my stinking eye drops, I hate it, i wish I never had it done, the glasses were so much easier, I still have to wear the glasses, so what did I get,>?? Sand spurs, they keep saying, here try these drops, then they give me a prescription for this fancy new eye drop for lasik patients, 5 a month. No thanks, I'll suffer with the ones I got. Now that is just me, but if you read up on some of the horror stories, believe me, glasses are better. I wish I still had mine.

  2. QUESTION:
Lasik Eye Surgery. Any bad reviews?
My parents have an appointment scheduled for Lasik Eye Surgery, the new "4th generation intralase fs laser" kind. I was wondering, has any gotten it, and hates that they did? Any bad reviews? What went wrong?

Just tell me what you think.

    Thanks.

    • ANSWER:
my brother had it done and so did I. I let him be the guinea pig first before I tried it out. His vision was near blind without glasses and we both had extra large pupils which can be a problem.
I researched it called people who had it done first, and then went for it, and i do not wear glasses and this is 4 years, my brother is about 8 years after. If as you age yes you eyes will age to and "sometimes" people need a re-adjustment, which if you bought the correct package is free. My Doctor had the latest equipment and has done over 40, 000 eye surgeries. There is always someone that has problems.
The eye Doctor usually won't say it's not a good idea causes he loses his client for life.
I had both knees replaced and am walking, Yet loads of people were saying oh it was the worst thing they went through and what mistake they made.

  4. QUESTION:
Laser Eye Surgery Reviews in Denver?
I'm thinking about getting Lasik done on my eyes. I have astigmatism and am right above being declared legally blind. But these are my eyes were talking about and I'm more than a little bit hesitant. With so many different advertisements and the overwhelming amount of information but lack of personal reviews available on the internet, I'm not sure where to start. I was hoping to get referrals from personal experiences. Thank you very much.

    • ANSWER:
Well, I can't really send you to website or anything. But I can tell you my experience. I used Corneal Consultants ( http://corneacolorado.com ) which is located near Highlands Ranch. Dr. Damiano was my doctor. I used doctors from this office for normal eye check ups for at least a decade before I had the eye surgery. Both Damiano and Forstot have impressive resumes. I was happy with my results (I did PRK instead of LASIK, but they are pretty similar). I felt more comfortable with them since they are both corneal surgeons that do much more complicated procedures than LASIK (things like transplants). I figured if anything went wrong, I had a doctor who could do something about it. And the 'cutting' involved in PRK or LASIK would be simple compared to what they normally do (and do well). There are two drawbacks. First, they are more expensive than other places. I personally think my eyes are worth the expense of a doctor I trust. And the 'money back' offers are so silly in my opinion. "Hey, we just blinded you, but don't worry, here's you 0 back!" THe second drawback is that these guys are busy, so it can be harder to get quality time with the doctor. Almost all the office contact I had was with a trainee. But then again, you don't feel bad about asking a trainee a bunch of stupid questions. And the trainee had an MD as well, so he knew what he was talking about.

Well, I hope that helps. My advice would be go for a consult and find a doctor you trust. And good luck! I really do like waking up in the morning and being able to read the alarm clock.

  8. QUESTION:
After 3 lasik custom vues, what are the chances PRK will fix the double vision that lasik caused?
My astigmatism was the cause caused some distortions in my left eye. After seeing multiple doctors, Lasik Custom Vue appeared to be the best option. All doctors I saw said I was a candidate. After the 1st surgery from my referred 1st Doctor, the vision became blurry. The doctor seemed baffled, so I switch to a more reputable doctor. He proceeded to give me a surgery after an appointment with Stanford's University Director of Opthamology. Both agreed I could be operated on again. I didn't see much improved(from my perspective) The vision went to double accompanied by light sensitivity and blurriness. The doctors reviewed my post-op condition and agreed that another operation could help. After my 3rd surgery, The vision seemed equally bad and the double vision almost seemed like triple at some points. Now, the doctor says that the results from lasik aren't working and he thinks I should try PRK. I am worried that PRK won't be able to correct the double vision that Lasik created!!

  9. QUESTION:
obtaining a vision waiver for USMC?
I am in the process of applying for Marine OCS in orange county, CA. I have undergone a No-Cut LASIK surgery in July of 2010 and have 20/20 vision in both eyes since then (before surgery I am -8.25 in left eye and -7.5 in right eye). I have not personally been to MEPS but when my surgery operative report was sent to MEPS I was told by my recruiter that while my vision is correctable to 20/20, my pre-op vision is outside the correctable standard of -6 and hence not qualify to apply for OCS. From what I found on the internet a waiver is possible for my situation but I am confused as to where to start or who to contact. My recruiter told me that once I have all the necessary documents he will submit it to MEPS again for waiver review but I'm not sure what documents I need and what test to do. All the people who posted on the internet regarding this issue had already gone to MEPS and have received further instruction on where to proceed, but as I have not been to MEPS, I am lost.

    • ANSWER:
You should be working with an OSO (Officer Selection Officer) not a recruiter. I am fairly sure there is an OSS(Officer Selection Station) in Santa Ana.

He is the one to ask about this.
      Good Luck!

  10. QUESTION:
Is this the next big conspiracy?
Back in 1995 the FDA approved Lasiki eye surgery as a safe procedure. Now the former FDA chief who was involved in the approval of Lasik being performed is trying to withdrawal it and for good reason. While there have been many cases where Lasik has been successful, the tragedies are hidden from public. There are a lot of people that have dry eyes, poor night vision, and even end up permanently blind. The sad thing is that some of the tragedies are caused by the best surgeons. The link below will take you to a website which is a petition from Morris Waxler to stop Lasik from being performed until all the complications are reviewed. It will investigate all the doctors who have failures and are not being truthful with their patients about being a good candidate for the surgery and only in it for the money. The success rate is actually lower in this surgery than you may think. The big conspiracy here is that the FDA is probably bought by the Lasik industry so the petition to withdrawal lasik will be turned down. Sad how they will only state the success and not the failures and will show the world that they care more about profit than the safety of the people when they turn down the petition. If your interested in signing the petition click the link below.
